Heavenly - Jennifer Laurens

                                                    Heavenly

Are you into books that talk about love in the terms of no holds barred , what about the issues teens and families face nowadays from drugs, alcohol, dysfunctional families even maybe having a sibling with a disability?

Review : Heavenly - Jennifer Laurens - 2009

Heavenly by Jennifer Laurens was a book that ever since I read the blurb I fell in love with it , it covers one of my favourite topics , the boundaries of immortal love. Everyday mortal girl Zoe falls head over heels in love with a guardian angel named Matthias and no matter what obstacles stand in their way, they go above and beyond to prove that their love that they feel for one another is as real as you and me.
The other topics included were drugs and alcohol , for me I have always found books that cover these couple of topics to be very interesting and intriguing as I have friends that went down this path and I've witnessed what it does to people around me and what's sad is like the characters in this book , for the majority of them they see it as a way of escaping the real world and use it as a pain suppressant.
The final topic is that one of the main characters in the book, their younger sibling has autism and we witness the effects of the family and how it changed their lives and in some ways for the worse but of course no matter what you love that sibling or well ... try to anyway. In more ways than one I was able to relate to the way the main character Zoe was feeling as I have two siblings with a disability , one has autism and the other an extreme version of ADD.

Heavenly tells the story of Zoe and shares her experiences with her family with whom her brother Luke has turned to drugs and her parents have their hands full with her younger autistic sister ,that they do not realise that Zoe is falling apart inside. For those who have siblings with disabilities , this is a major point that we all feel and go through , we see our siblings getting special attention and more attention from the parents that it feels like we are closed out from the world, from their love and attention.

Zoe then meets Matthias , her sister's guardian angel and of course he completely understands her and they of course fall in love but being in love with an immortal can be difficult as Heaven on Earth as Jennifer has kindly written can't last forever. Soon Zoe will have to make the final choice whether to be with Matthias in Heaven or stay on Earth and not see him again.

What will Zoe do , will she follow her heart or her head ? Find out in this amazing YA read "Heavenly" by Jennifer Laurens and stay tuned for her sequel "Penitence" .
