VBT# Conspiracy in the Capitol - B. Ivy Woods ( Part 2/2)

Review: Conspiracy in the Capitol - Book #1 - In the Capitol Series - B. Ivy Woods - June 2020
I have to admit this book I
had been in two minds about as I did leave it till the last minute to read but
the politics angle and the word "conspiracy" is what grabbed me.
Unfortunately for me, this wasn't a favorite read and I struggled to finish as
it was quite a slow burn and lots of back and forth from the main characters. I
liked the idea of a second chance romance which this had but seriously, I know
you were burned but why not just jump back in when there are feelings and then
you can go from there. I did enjoy the various group texts and then the
mysterious messages as I love seeing modern uses of technology e.g texting,
emails, etc in novels. I did like Flint as a male lead but have to admit Rae
frustrated me and I felt I couldn't fully connect with her, but at the same
time I loved how she had a group of tight-knit girlfriends - that was awesome
and that we got to see their names, etc quite a bit throughout the novel. Of course like most romances, we have our sad moment as just when things start to look up for the couple and we are like YAY - a second chance , the mystery aspect happens and their past comes back to haunt them. Who doesn't want this beautiful couple together ? Will Rae's heart be able to handle another lost round with Flint ?
I would classify Conspiracy in the Capitol as a cozy mystery with second chance slow-burn romance. If you love your romance with a sprinkle of suspense then check out B. Ivy Woods - Conspiracy in the Capitol - a diversity BWWM read.
