Review: The Lying Kind - Book #1 Detective Rachel Prince Series - Alison James - February 2018 I was scrolling through my kindle and was in the mood for a mystery read and the title "The Missing Girl" jumped out at me. This particular book after doing research on Goodreads had three different titles - The Missing Girl, The Lying Kind and Lola are Missing. The book starts off with Rachel and her partner Mark being handed a cold case, a young girl Lola Harper disappeared and all leads have gone ice cold. Her father has also disappeared without a trace. Rachel and Mark go and interview the mother and it seems that all cases point to a nasty custody battle and that Gavin and his daughter have swanned off somewhere. As the book goes along though and Rachel and Mark interview friends, family, acquaintances things start not adding up and it looks more like the mother knows more than she is letting on. Review: The Friendship Pact - Alison James - June 2019 After reading quite a few romance books and bullymances, I was in the mood for a change. I like to mix up my reading with mysteries. Though when it comes to mysteries, I am fussy and they have to be grabbing and keep my interest. In The Friendship Pact, we meet Lucy and Adele. The girls met when they were at school together as Lucy's parents decided to send her to a public school where she met Adele Watts. The two girls couldn't be more different but formed a friendship bond which ended up in a pact when a local new girl Joanne ended up dead. After Joanne's death, Lucy's parents took her out of public school and sent her to a private one and that was the last she saw properly of Adele.
