The book starts with Holly out on the town with her roomie and best friend Rachael. She then gets the strangest text from her brother warning her that if something happens to him, the arrow points to Maura - his girlfriend. The next day, he is found dead and it is ruled a suicide. Holly can't stop thinking about the text as she knew her brother and near the end, he was spouting some weird things, but none of this happened till he met Maura.
