Review: The Kill Clause - Lisa Unger - December 2025 I wasn't feeling my best when I picked up The Kill Clause by Lisa Unger - one of those mornings where nothing quite appeals and you're scrolling aimlessly through your reading options. On a whim, I clicked on this Amazon Original short story, and I'm so glad I did. Sometimes the perfect read finds you exactly when you need it. From the opening pages, this book gave me serious The Long Kiss Goodnight vibes you know, that brilliant Geena Davis and Samuel L. Review: Kill Count - Book #4 Detective Marcy Kendrick Thriller Series - Theo Baxter - June 2024 I was in the mood for a thriller after finding a few books I tried were DNFS. I find when this happens it means that I need something gritty to sink my teeth into and what better than a thriller featuring an assassin? Kill Count by Theo Baxter is the fourth book in the series, but it was written in a way where you can like I did read this as a standalone and still understand the series as this book does feature past characters e.g Marcy's ex who has been threatening her and we can see that he lost his job on the squad and he blames Marcy for it. I have to admit parts of this book were frustrating especially the pairing up with the vice detective Veronica as she has been on the case of the Cartel for the past decade and hasn't gotten close to catching them when she gets close her informants are killed. Review: The Hunter - Book #5 Venice Mafia Series - Tara Crescent - January 2025 I wasn't sure what to expect with this series but I had wanted to read it first as OMG the cover is to die for. It also reminded me of the Paper Princess-style covers by Erin Watt. As I started reading this series, we had a tale similar to Rogue Assassin where the wife has faked her death, but there is a twist - the husband also faked his death and here they are both killing and grieving for one another - damn miscommunication trope of assassins. Eight years have passed and a lot has changed, that they don't know if they can trust one another as of course the first rule of assassin school is to never trust anyone as they are just another person that could get you killed.
