VBT# Woman Missing - Kaelin Wennerberg - August 2025 Have you ever read a book that completely frustrates you, and then you find yourself yelling "Nooooooooo!" as you turn the last page? That was absolutely me with Woman Missing, and honestly, I'm still kicking myself because it's been a few weeks since I finished it and I cannot for the life of me remember the main character's name. Yet somehow I can recall every other character and plot twist with crystal clarity. (Let's call our protagonist "J" for the sake of this review – don't judge me!) Wennerberg throws us straight into chaos from page one. J is desperately trying to win back her ex, Mikey, when a drunken night ends in absolute tragedy. She gets behind the wheel intoxicated and strikes a man, killing him. But here's where it gets chilling – with his dying breath, he warns her that "they" wouldn't be happy and would come after her. Those ominous words haunted me throughou...

Review: Unsteady - Peyton Corrine

Review: Unsteady - Peyton Corinne - April 2024 This book was provided to me by HarperCollins NZ and I had been looking forward to reading it as recently I have gone back into the world of Hockey Romances. This is mainly due to that being the current trend of romances lately. A group of friends on Instagram were doing a buddy read of Unsteady, so that motivated me even more to pick it up. In Unsteady, we have our hockey champion Rhys who is currently suffering panic attacks and trying to work up the courage to get back on the ice after he suffered a really bad concussion at a game. After the concussion, every time he saw the ice or went to step on it - the panic arose and he just couldn't do it. Our female main character Sadie is an ice skater and she is trying to balance a life of ice skating and ...

Review: Second Chances - Tiffany K. Brooke - January 2021 After reading Erin Lee's book at the start of this great series Broken Roses and enjoying it - I knew I would. I decided to check out the rest of the series and continue with the books. Second Chances takes us into the world of April who was an amazing soldier and team leader in Afghanistan. The book starts with their humvee hit by an explosion, some of the team are thrown and when April comes too, she aims to wake up everyone and save the team. Unfortunately, not everyone survives, but she gets most to safety - however sadly not before a second explosion happens. Waking up in the hospital, April has discovered most of her team is dead and she is no longer a whole person as her leg had to be amputated. April arrives home to her new life as a wounded civilian but finds it very difficult to acclimatize back to this world and way of living. She finds solace in the bottom of a bottle as she turns to a life of alcohol, after o...
