Review: Wild Eyes - Elsie Silver

Review: Wild Eyes - Book #2 Rose Hill Series - Elsie Silver - September 2024 As a dedicated reader of Elsie Silver’s work, I have to say that Wild Eyes has solidified my stance as being firmly Team Rose Hill. While Chestnut Springs and Gold Rush Ranch didn’t quite hold my attention, the Rose Hill series has been a delightful surprise, and Wild Eyes is a shining example of why. This book was a perfect blend of heartwarming, hilarious, and deeply emotional moments that kept me engaged from start to finish. The story follows Skylar, a chart-topping country singer desperate for an escape after a string of bad press, and Weston Belmont, a rugged, confident, and utterly swoon-worthy single dad. From the moment Skylar sets foot in Rose Hill, she’s thrown headfirst into a world that’s completely different from her glamorous but chaotic life. What starts as a temporary retreat soon turns into something much more meaningful as she becomes entwined with not only Weston but also his ...

Review: Forever Red - Book #1 Bama Boys - Carina Adams - April 2015 Clearing out my kindle, I came across Forever Red. I didn't know what it was about as it had been such a long time since I grabbed it. The book starts with Cecelia aka Cece who is a big country-western singer and about to celebrate her 30th Birthday. Her friends have surprised her with a meet and greet with none other than Nate Kelly. Her friends expect her to be excited, but all she feels is ill as they don't know her past life as Lia and when Nate was Neil. The book then flashes back to the day in class when Lia meets newcomer Neil. The pair may have been complete opposites but they just clicked and though Lia was from the wrong side of the tracks, Neil never judged her like everyone else. Forever Red tells their love story during high school from the day they met till the day Lia ended it by disappearing. For Lia, she couldn't wait to get out of the trailer park and so she applied for the furthermost ...

Review: Thank You, Next Chapter - Cassie Graham - 2020 You know how some books you pick up and you don't know what to expect, I find those often the best type of reads as you don't have those high expectations which often I find can lead to disappointment especially in books as often they don't quite live up to the greatness we have built in our minds.  In Thank You, Next Chapter we meet Arizona aka Zona and Sebastian aka Seb. Zona is busy writing romances under a pen name and looking for a muse as she has had a rocky few years after one bad move led to her being blacklisted in the music community. Seb has hit a wall with his writing of songs ever since his long-term girlfriend whom he was going to propose too dumped him. When Zona is invited to a friend's concert where he is headlining for Seb, Zona goes along. During the concert though she is caught by Seb reading a book while mouthing the words to his song. Seb is captivated by Zona and wants to meet her. L...

Review: Pretty, Twisted Lies - Emily Bowie

Review: Pretty, Twisted Lies - Emily Bowie - June 2020 I have to admit I am in two minds about this book as it had interested me in getting a copy, though I went in pretty much blind. The first chapter which was a bit like a prologue had me captivated and intrigued to read more as I was sure I had stumbled into a stalker type story but alas I was proved wrong as the next chapter introduced us to our male lead Kip and then the next our female lead Kellie. The pair met when Kellie was in high school as she was sent by her father to a boarding school for girls - basically a school to keep her out of sight, out of mind - so that she wouldn't interfere with her parents' lives. At the school one day, just out of the gate - she meets a bad boy Kip. Kip has grown up in a life of danger as he now runs the bar his parents once owned and the McGrath Estate empire. Throughout the novel, we will read this forbidden romance filled with danger and angst between Kellie and Kip. Unti...

Beautifully Broken Bailey B Publication date: December 20th 2019 Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance Piper Most people don’t think about the day they’ll die. They coast through life, blissfully unaware of how their time is ticking away. I wasn’t like most people. I welcomed death, wanted her to take me away from the prison I called life, but she refused. I tried twice only to survive. And then, when I thought I had nothing left it came. A reason to live. Rex was a small, unexpected ray of light my world of darkness that blossomed into a beam of sunshine. I thought, maybe this was why Death didn’t take me. Maybe she knew that if I held on a little longer things would turn around. But the third time Death came to my door wasn’t by choice. Someone else brought her, and I fear this time she might take me. Rex Being the son of a country star sucks. My parents are never around, I move every year or so, and I have no real friends. Everyone around me has an agenda. Everyone...
