Book News: 1105 Yakima Street - Debbie Macomber

1105 Yakima Street (Cedar Cove, #11)
Special Feature : Letter From Bruce to the Reader
1105 Yakima Street,
Cedar Cove, Washington
Dear Reader,
You’ve probably heard that my wife has left me. Rachel’s pregnant, and she says she can’t handle the stress in our household anymore. My thirteen-year-old daughter, Jolene, is jealous of her. Maybe it’s my fault. As a widower I spoiled her—
Jolene was reading over my shoulder just now and says that’s not true. She claims Rachel ruined everything. But that’s not true. The real question is: How can I get my wife back? I don’t even know where she is. She’s not with Teri Polgar or any of her other friends from the salon. The other question is…when will Jolene grow up and stop acting like such a brat?
Of course, I’m not the only one in town with problems. Linc Wyse’s father-in-law is trying to destroy his business. And you know Charlotte Rhodes? Seems she’s becoming forgetful, and the family’s worried about her and Ben. Lots of other stuff going on—but Rachel is better at keeping up with it than I am. If you have any idea where my wife is, give me a call. Please.

Review : 1105 Yakima Street - Debbie Macomber

Are you a fan of Debbie Macomber's writings ? Been Following her Cedar Cove Series ?
Love the feel of community-type Suburban novels ?

Review: 1105 Yakima Street - Cedar Cove Series Book #11 -July 2011
Are you a fan of Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove books ? I personally have only read a handful of her books and this was the first in the Cedar Cove Series. My personal favourite series of her's has been The Blossom Street Series. My mum and best friend Deb are big Debbie Macomber fans and have read and devoured her books. They tend to rave on about them, so I thought when 1105 Yakima Street came up for review on Netgalley, I'd give it a go .
As I gathered from reading 1105 Yakima Street, the Cedar Cove series is based around the Cedar Cove neighbourhood and it's residents and each book is based around an issue that is present in today's society. Debbie's writing has captured the emotion and the essence of these issues in a way that is relatable to the reader themselves, even if they too have not yet experienced the situation themselves personally, they are bound to know somebody for certain that has.
1105 Yakima Street tells the story of Rachel and Bruce who are newlyweds and their tale of having a perfect step-family. Bruce  has a daughter called Jolene who lost her mother when she was six years old and has been the apple and sole joy of Bruce's for all these years. Now it's discovered that Rachel is pregnant and Jolene is definitely not one bit happy about it and she will not stop her antics till she has Bruce on her side. During the novel , we also read as Rachel wonders the big "What If" question on was marrying Bruce  the right decision or should she have waited for Nate to return home ? Can Rachel and Bruce work their problems out or will Jolene's antics push Rachel over the edge ? As usual , Debbie Macomber has captured the family drama saga antics which draws readers to her novels.

Review: Bloodlines - Richelle Mead

Have you read and completed the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead ? Wanting a new book by her to try ? Check out Bloodlines , Book #1 in a new spin-off series that features many of the old and some new faces of Vampire Academy series.
Review: Bloodlines - Book #1 Bloodlines Series- Richelle Mead- August 2011
Were you one of the few that were sad to see the Vampire Academy books finish ? Sad, that you would never see Rose, Adrian , Dmitri, Sydney etc on a written page again? Never Fear though Vampire Academy fans , as author Richelle Mead has not left us wondering as she has written a spin-off type series focusing on The Alchemists and one in particular who got alot of face-time in the Vampire Academy series Sydney Sage. After the last book of the Vampire Academy series , we read as Sydney was found to be too close to the Vampires and exiled and ridiculed in the world of the Alchemists as to them Vampires and Dhampirs are abominations to the world and to humans. When an teenage girl Alchemist is required , it makes sense that they would stop at the Sage's family home and request Zoe Sage , Sydney's younger sister -though she has not had the training to deal with situations and Sydney , not wanting this life for her sister - stands up to take her place and sees this also has a last resort to redeeming herself and an opportunity to see old friends as when she arrives at the destination she is reunited with Rose , Eddie, Adrian , Jill and of course Abe - who as we learn has Sydney has his own Alchemist due to a revenge pact that was made. It seems that Jill's life as a princess royalty is in danger and they need to hold her somewhere safe and sound. Eddie, Jill and Sydney go undercover as Siblings and enroll in Amberwood Prep , though it seems something more sinister is happening when students start displaying similar tattoos to Sydney's alchemist mark and these tattoos are giving them fast-fix abilities. When Moroi are being found killed and these tattoos becoming more popular, it seems that Sydney and her friends may have another task at hand as it seems that the vampire killings , tattoos may be connected to a rogue Alchemist.
Find out more in this fast paced novel Bloodlines and stay tuned as once you put it down, you will be like me and holding out for the sequel "The Golden Lily".

Review: Jane Austen Made Me Do It - Various Authors

Are you a fan of Jane Austen's tales ? Do you consider yourself an Janeite or an Austenite ? I have always been fascinated with modern renditions of classics and have found the tales of Jane Austen exciting as new authors try to play on them. Today's book reminded me of the short story collection "What Judy Blume Taught Me" and it is "Jane Austen Made me Do it ".
Review: Jane Austen Made Me Do It - Various Authors- October 2011
Growing up , I have always been a Jane Austen fan and have loved to read any form of Literature associated with her books , so when I saw this anthology come up on Netgalley for review , I just had to read it :) and I'm glad I did as I loved it.
Jane Austen Made Me Do It is the perfect short story collection for any fan of Jane Austen whether you prefer to stick to the originals or like me have a fancy for the renditions like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Prada and Prejudice etc. This collection of stories features favourite historical fiction authors and authors that have featured tales of Jane Austen in their very own novels."My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you." Ifyou just heaved a contented sigh at Mr. Darcy's heartfelt words, then you, dear reader, are in good company. Here is a delightful collection of never-before-published stories inspired by Jane Austen-her novels, her life, her wit, her world.
Ever wondered whether Jane Austen's characters loved the predictaments that Jane wrote them in ? Syrie James -author of the book "The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen" brings the tale of Jane Austen's Nightmare to A Night at Northanger which brings in a bit of 80's Ghostbusters theme with The Pink Carnation series author Lauren Willig , I loved this as a fan of Vampire Novels and Gothic Novels - Northanger Abbey is like one of the originals , though not in a Vampire Diaries way. From Valentine Series author Adriana Trigiani , she decides to play on the fact that as we all know there is alot of old-fashioned letter writing in Jane's novels , so she has written her tale in the form of a Letter of Congratulations from Aunt Jane to her niece Anna. From the fun-loving author Beth Pattillo whose titles include Jane Austen Ruined my Life and Mr Darcy Broke my Heart has had a slight change of mind with her story titled "When Only a Darcy will Do".
Other Authors include :
Lauren Willig •Adriana Trigiani • Jo Beverley • Alexandra Potter • Laurie Viera Rigler • Frank Delaney & Diane Meier • Syrie James • Stephanie Barron • Amanda Grange• Pamela Aidan • Elizabeth Aston • Carrie Bebris • Diana Birchall • Monica Fairview • Janet Mullany • Jane Odiwe • Beth Pattillo • Myretta Robens • Jane Rubino and Caitlen Rubino-Bradway • Maya Slater • Margaret C. Sullivan • and the winner of astory contest hosted by the Republic of Pemberley website and many more in this wonderful Jane Austen Collection of Tales.

Review: A Beautiful Dark - A Beautiful Dark #1 -Jocelyn Davies - September 2011
Life for Skye has always been different , from becoming an Orphan when she was six years old and then the fact that her eyes are the silver that used to be used in mercury thermometers. When her friends go against her wishes on her seventeenth birthday and through her a surprise party , it seems that this will be the start of her troubles as she meets two guys at her party - Asher and Devin. One Dark Haired and the other Blonde. It seems that these two guys know all about Skye and things seem to be exploding all around her and it's not her imagination going into overdrive. What are they here for and what has it got to do with Skye ? When at a school Ski trip , Asher decides to tell a story about the Rebels and Guardians - Bad and Good Angels . The story hits Skye hard as her parents use to tell her the story as a bedtime tale .
