Review: Mula and the Snooty Monkey - Lauren Hoffmeier - September 2021 One of my favorite things to read is the new picture books that are released, this stemmed from working for almost 15 years as a children and teens librarian where reading these books was my job and an everyday occurrence for me. I love finding new ones and who knows I might down the track and hopefully return to a library job as my dream job is to still become a manager of a school library. Mula and the Snooty Monkey by Lauren Hoffmeier is a cute story about a tiger Mula who is doing his morning routine of Yoga when he hears Svadli a cheeky monkey laughing at him and being mean. Mula breathes in and tries to get Svadli to join in with Yoga. After a while, the Snooty Monkey joins in, and guess what, he loves it and finds it peaceful and a great mindfulness tool. Mula and the Snooty Monkey is a great read and a great tool to teach young children Yoga moods and excellent skills to help them relax, breathe and reflec...

Review: The Journey of the Litttle Prince - Corinne Delporte

Review: The Journey of the Little Prince - Corrine Delporte - April 2023 This was such a cute read and a bit of walking down memory lane as when I was about 5-6 years old, I went through a stage of loving French children's books like Barbar the Elephant, Madeline, and The Little Prince. So, it has been at least 30 years since I read the children's book but I still remembered a bit about it, mainly its distinct illustrations. The story of the Little Prince itself has just turned 80 years old - I still find it amazing that there are books that last that length of time and on the other hand it does make me sad as I think like movies, books these days don't have the same longevity like they used to have when we were children and it could be because there are more children's picture books being published daily compared to what we had ourselv...

Review: The Little Tiger with the Big Temper - Je T'aime Hayr - July 2021 NB- This review is not written with any bias and does not reflect on my knowing the author. As readers of my site know, I have a soft spot for really good Children's picture books and even more so when they have a good meaning behind the story. I also felt a connection with this book as I have talked to the author several times over the years at one point she was the editor for Gloss Magazine online, and at the time she was editor- I wrote a few articles and reviews for the site. Since leaving the site after she ended her editor role, I followed the author on Facebook and Instagram keeping up with the amazing things she was doing, and then in 2021, I saw that she had written a book for children about mindfulness and meditation. As a mum of two boys herself, she knows all about those tempers that children can have, and at times they can be just like this tiger - bad-tempered and they aren't quite su...
