Confessions of a Frat Girl by Abigail Davies - Cover & Excerpt Reveal

Release Date: March 28, 2019
Cover Design: Pink Elephant Designs

Confession One: Musical theatre and chess were my true loves. I was a mixture of nerd and drama queen. I liked to think of myself as raspberry ripple ice cream. The perfect combination of sauce to creamy goodness.
Confession Two: I was an adaptable kind of girl. Until it came to my dreams. Four years of hard work and I finally got into the college I’d fantasized about since I was a little girl. But sometimes things didn’t work out how you wanted them to. One incident—and a Viking helmet—was all it took to have my aspirations snatched away at the end of my first year. And now I was here. In a state I hated. A second college I didn’t want to go to. But no other choices available. Confession Three: Alcohol was the enemy. All I wanted was to blow off some steam before I met my new fate. To let loose, and have a little fun. I was never meant to wake up in a hot guys bed and not remember how I got there. Confession Four: He was my new roommate. Running out of his house the morning after the night before was the last time I was meant to see him. I could forget it ever happened and start my sophomore year unscathed. Until I found out he was my new roommate...along with another thirty guys. I was the new Frat Girl in town, and life was about to get a whole lot of messy.

The first class at my new college flew by, thank god. I wanted nothing more than to jump out of my seat and run out of there once the lecturer dismissed us, but I was stopped by Gabe, yet again.
“What’s your next class?”
“None of your business,” I replied as I pushed my books into my bag and pulled it onto my shoulder, not even sorry that it smacked into his stupid chest.
“Actually.” He grinned. “It kind of is. I know all of the guys’ schedules.”
“Good for you.” I pushed my way past the other guys and jogged down the stairs, needing to get out of the room and his presence as quickly as I could.
Everything that had happened with us that first night was still a foggy memory in my brain, but the longer I was around him and watched each of his movements, the more it lifted. I didn’t want the stupid fog to lift. I wanted to pretend like it never happened and finish out my college education in peace.
Why did the universe hate me so much? Maybe I was a bad person in one of my previous lives. Or maybe I’d already been a good person and now it was time to be a bad person. Ugh. The universe sucked.
I walked with the fray of students, hoping that I lost Gabe, and when I turned the corner to the drama department, I let out a sigh of relief.
It was short lived though because someone shouted my name.
Why couldn’t he just leave me the hell alone?
“What?” I snapped, spinning around on my heel and looking up at his stupidly handsome face. Maybe I could punch it to make it not so handsome? That thought had a grin forming.
“Frat meeting at six tonight. You need to be there.”
“Do I though?” I scrunched my face up. “Just because I’m living there—”
“That’s the exact reason you need to be there.” He moved closer, a serious mask slipping over his features. “Your dad wanted you to be part of this frat so that means you need to be part of it, which includes the meetings and everything else that comes with it. If you don’t then it’ll be an infraction.”
“Ohhh.” I held my hands up and wiggled my fingers. “An infraction.”
“I’m being serious, Sum. You’ll get kicked out if you get too many infractions, and I’m guessing that you being here is a last resort.” He left that hanging in the air, and for a second I wondered if he knew what had happened last year. “Six pm. Don’t be late.” With that, he spun on his heels and walked away, leaving me to watch his ass with each of his steps. Goddamn it was a fine ass.
“I know that look, girl,” a deep voice said from beside me. I turned to face a guy with a green mohawk. “I’d eat him alive.”
“Good.” I twirled to face him completely. “Maybe that’d get him off my back.”
He raised his brows causing the silver stud displayed there to twinkle. “Or your front.”

About the Author

Abigail Davies grew up with a passion for words, storytelling, maths, and anything pink. Dreaming up characters--quite literally--and talking to them out loud is a daily occurrence for her. She finds it fascinating how a whole world can be built with words alone, and how everyone reads and interprets a story differently. Now following her dreams of writing, Abigail has found the passion that she always knew was there. When she's not writing: she's a mother to two daughters who she encourages to use their imagination as she believes that it's a magical thing, or getting lost in a good book. If she's doing neither of those things, you can be sure she's surfing the web buying new makeup, clothes, or binge watching another show as she becomes one with her sofa.

Out of nowhere, I ask my friend, “Danny, do you believe that two people are meant to meet? Like their destiny is written in the stars and all that mushy crap?”
“Mushy crap? Wow, so poetic there, B. But yes, I do.” He pauses and looks at me before adding, “And yes I do think that you skipping out on Hottie McHotterson was a mistake, but because I believe in fate and all that mushy crap, I believe you and he will meet again.”
“You think?” I ask.
He nods his head. “Yep, and you know why?” He doesn’t give me a chance to answer. “Because you, Bryce Dalton, never take risks like you did with him and because you took said risk, the universe is now on your side and you will meet him again.” He walks over to me and grips my shoulders. “And if you skip out on him again, I will kick your ass to Alaska and back. Capeesh?”
With a smile, I nod my head. “Capeesh, and I hope you are right, because I’m kicking myself for being such a moron that weekend.”
“You’re not a moron, babe. You are Bryce-fucking-Dalton, owner of Blushing Buds AND second best florist in Vancouver. You will get your second chance, and this time you won’t sneak out, you’ll ride him like a cowgirl—” I smack him in the arm to shut him up.
“Okay, okay, I get it and I hope you are right…”
“I knew you’d like to be on top.” He winks at me.
“Oh, stop, you fiend. Now pass me the hydrangeas and ranunculus so I can finish this bouquet.”

Review : Girls of Paper and Fire - Natasha Ngan

Girls of Paper and Fire (Girls of Paper and Fire, #1)

Review: Girls of Paper and Fire - Book #1 Girls of Paper and Fire Series - Natasha Ngan - November 2018
As a fan of books like The Selection and Wither, the premise of this book made me want to read it especially as I love harem stories too. With eight girls being chosen as part of a selection process - the Paper caste to serve the king for his sexual needs. Seven years ago when Lei was younger, the king's guards raided her hometown and stole her mother away. Since then she has hated the King and what he stands for with a passion. Now seven years later, the King's guards are back in their village, and they want her - the girl with the golden eyes to serve on the King's Harem. Lei is not the type to go down without a fight as we read as she is strong-willed and stubborn at times. Too much though as she ends up on the wrong side of the King.  We learn the King has a wife, but no-one has seen her, I was hoping that we could catch a glimpse and it may have been Lei's mother - that's my theory, but we never hear about it in this book - may be the next one. I have to admit the other thing that drove me to read this book was that the cover is adorable. Girls of Paper and Fire did surprise me as I didn't think I would love it so much but with the twists and turns and added surprises throughout the way meant I loved it and am hoping we get the next book. Also for readers who are looking for a bit of diversity, we have represented the Asian Culture and GLBT aspects in Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan.
P.S – This was another James Patterson Presents novel.
