Review: Snapped - Book #4 Playbook Series - Alexa Martin - October 2020 The latest girl to join the Lady Mustangs and the crowd at HERS - the bar that Brynn owns is Elliot Read. Elliot, though she is half-black as always tried to do the right thing as she was raised by a white dad and has worked hard to be where she is today. She is now busy working with the Denver Mustangs as a PR rep and trying to move on after her dad's death. This book starts when black footballer Quinton Howard Jnr decides to blackout the football's logo and take a knee during the national anthem. This wouldn't have been such a PR disaster but the thing was that Quinton didn't let anyone know he was going to do it. I have to admit I have enjoyed the series Playbook but felt that Snapped was a bit more leaning on the political side of things and had a strong BLM focus. Now, this is good but when I want to read, I read for escapism from reality and the focus of BLM is currently and has been for th...

Review: Fumbled - Book #2 Playbook Series - Alexa Martin - April 2019 Going through this series, I have finally caught up, and yes, like most books I have read and reviewed on The Phantom Paragrapher - I read it out of order LOL :P. In Book #3 which I read first, I fell in love with the girl power of Brynn and Poppy. In Fumbled, we have Poppy Parkes and her story of disappointment, second chances, disappointment, and then eventually a HEA. When Poppy who is black was sixteen, she fell pregnant with her high school boyfriend's baby and ended up living with her Aunt as her own family turned their back on her and disowned it, even the Dad's family wanted nothing to do with her. Now 10 years later, Poppy is a single mother to Ace who has inherited his father's athletic ability and personality - he is his father through and through. She is also working as a waitress at the Emerald Bar - an R18 club. One night Poppy is working the VIP section when some of the Denver Mustangs Foot...

Review: Blitzed - Book #3 Playbook Series - Alexa Martin - December 2019 After reading some dark reads/ mystery, I was in the mood for a chick-lit novel and the cover of Blitzed by Alexa Martin had captured my attention at work. I also loved that it was a football / WAGS book.  Brynn is finally achieving her dream with the opening of her bar aka HERS and ever since then she has also made a great group of friends who are part of the WAGS of the local football team - these females call themselves the Lady Mustangs. One of the single players, Maxwell - a hunky piece of dark chocolate has caught Brynn's eye. Maxwell has always been quiet and the one who doesn't cause trouble and she is gearing herself to ask him out, that is until she sees another side of him which breaks her heart. Maxwell received a phone call and then chucked his phone at the shelf behind Brynn and ended up wrecking her bar shelf - something she worked hard at creating as he smashed some pretty expensive and irr...
