Review: Holmes, Margaret and Poe - Book #1 - James Patterson and Brian Sitts - January 2024 I had been looking forward to this one, but a little nervous at the same time as I have found recently that the co-written books haven't been great and I couldn't get into them as I had most of the earlier titles and series. This one though was fabulous and amazing and I loved it all as every character even the side ones of Violet and Grey were likable and enjoyable. The book starts with three PIs Brendan Holmes, Auguste Poe, and Margaret Maple joining forces in New York as Private Investigators. The thing too is just like their namesakes, they are the best at what they do and despite getting into mischievous trouble, they always solve the crimes that they are hired for. Everything about this series was great from the flawed characters as each of our PIs has a vice, to the way they solved the crimes like a giant jigsaw puzzle, to the variety of crimes in this book from modern kidnappings...

Review: The Beginning After - Kiersten Modglin - February 2018 One of the authors that I have decided to read on their backlist is Kiersten Modglin and what better way than to use Kindle Unlimited? In The Beginning After the book starts with Peighton not seeing her husband and son, and then heads off to work. During her day she gets a bad feeling and picks up her son Kyle. As they pull up to their home, they see a range of police cars and ambulances, etc. It turns out her husband Todd was found dead at the bottom of the stairs. Was it an accident or murder? During the investigation, Peighton meets Officer Caleb Nealson. He believes that the same person who killed his wife Sarah is the same one who murdered her husband Todd. He just doesn't have concrete proof but believes it was someone who goes by the name Beezelbub. Throughout the novel, Caleb and Peighton get closer and we see sparks fly but Todd isn't the only one with dark secrets as Peighton has secrets of her own about...

Review: The Class Reunion - N.L Hinkens - November 2020 I saw this book advertised on a bookstagram post / social media post and it looked fascinating especially since he ticked both of my favourite boxes of tropes in books. Two of the ones on my list are reunion novels and the second are revenge stories where one by one someone suffers for their past actions. I grabbed this book from Kindle Unlimited as I hadn't read any of the authors before. This book starts with Heather receiving a phone call from an old classmate that not only has she not yet RSVP to their school reunion but also one of their friends and classmates Lindsey has died. It looks like an accident, but Heather isn't convinced and so she turns up to help investigate. What happens though when at their reunion, the classmates received a bunch of flowers with a note - You deserve to die. This freaks the class out but is someone just playing a prank on them? Heather returns to her normal life as a PI in Hollywood b...
