Review: Repeat - Book #1 Larsen Brothers - Kylie Scott - April 2019

There's something so special about reading a book that landed in your hands as a birthday gift and getting to curl up with Repeat, sent to me by one of my beautiful book birthday groups on bookstagram, made this reading experience feel even warmer and more meaningful. Books really do taste sweeter when they come wrapped in friendship.

Kylie Scott has long held a special place on my shelf as one of my favourite Australian New Adult authors. It all started years ago when I fell hopelessly in love with Mal from the Stage Dive series, and ever since, her name on a cover is enough to make me clear my schedule.

Repeat opens with Clementine walking into a tattoo parlour, innocently asking if the owner did her tattoo completely unaware of the storm she's about to walk into. Turns out, she used to date the tattoo artist, Ed. They broke up, she walked away, and it shattered him. But here's the gut-punch: Clem doesn't remember any of it. She was mugged, assaulted, and left for dead, waking up with retrograde amnesia. Now she's relearning her own life from scratch, and the only thing she knows for certain is a quiet, unshakable feeling , she is safe with Ed, and she loves him.

What made this story so tender and complicated was watching Ed wrestle with his own heart. Can he really move past the hurt when Clem left him broken, pieced back together by friends who watched him fall apart like Humpty Dumpty? Understandably, they're not exactly rolling out the welcome mat for her return.

I'll admit I did not see the twist coming. When the true villain was finally revealed, my jaw dropped, but looking back, every thread had been quietly stitched together all along. Kylie Scott is so clever like that. And oh, the relief when justice was finally served, and our two broken souls got the second chance at happiness they so deserved.

If you love romantic suspense, a swoony tattoo artist, and a good amnesia trope that tugs at your heartstrings, Repeat is absolutely the book for you. Thank you again to my bookish birthday friends for gifting me this story , it made the reading experience feel like a warm hug from people who know my heart and my shelf so well.
