Review: Maverick - Anna Cruise - May 2013

One of the common threads in New Adult fiction is that the male star in the books can often play a sport, more than often it's something like Boxing, MMA, Football or Baseball. In Anna Cruise's she offers us up the sport of Surfing. This peaked my interest as I like the "idea" of a surfer and love surfing movies, though of course I'm not really a water person myself.  In Maverick we meet champion surfer and a bit of a smart-ass Kellan Handler. He's the type of guy who will sleep with anyone and not remember their name and will not see them ever again. To him sex is just sex. When he gets into a bit of trouble which leaves him with a possible suing on his manager's hands. His manager Heath hires a PR lady to help Kellan clean up his act. Enter Gina , growing up surfing was her life as her brothers and boyfriend Luke were surfers. That was until three years ago when tragedy entered her life and caused a giant rift in her family. Kellan reminds Gina of Luke so much , can Gina work with Kellan and keep her feelings separate or will working with Kellan be the thing that can save her and help her move forward with her life ? Kellan lost his friend Jay in an surfing accident and from then on has headed into a downward spiral. Can Gina be the one to save him from hitting rock bottom and losing everything he has worked for ?

Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. Review: Dr. Strange Beard - Book #5 Winston Brothers Series - Penny Reid - July 2018 If there is a family that I love to read about it has been the Winston Brothers. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
