Review: Wild Eyes - Book #2 Rose Hill Series - Elsie Silver - September 2024

As a dedicated reader of Elsie Silver’s work, I have to say that Wild Eyes has solidified my stance as being firmly Team Rose Hill. While Chestnut Springs and Gold Rush Ranch didn’t quite hold my attention, the Rose Hill series has been a delightful surprise, and Wild Eyes is a shining example of why. This book was a perfect blend of heartwarming, hilarious, and deeply emotional moments that kept me engaged from start to finish.

The story follows Skylar, a chart-topping country singer desperate for an escape after a string of bad press, and Weston Belmont, a rugged, confident, and utterly swoon-worthy single dad. From the moment Skylar sets foot in Rose Hill, she’s thrown headfirst into a world that’s completely different from her glamorous but chaotic life. What starts as a temporary retreat soon turns into something much more meaningful as she becomes entwined with not only Weston but also his two adorable children, Emmy and Ollie.

Skylar’s character was an interesting contrast—on one hand, she’s independent and fiercely determined, yet on the other, she’s hilariously out of her depth in small-town life. The moment she admitted she had never made a bed in her life had me laughing out loud, highlighting just how different her world is from Weston’s. However, what truly made this book special for me wasn’t just the romance—it was the relationship between Skylar and Weston’s kids. Emmy and Ollie stole my heart, bringing so much warmth and humor to the story. Their interactions with Skylar felt genuine and touching, showing a softer, more nurturing side to her that I absolutely adored.

While the challenges of Skylar’s celebrity status loomed in the background, the strength of her bond with Weston and his kids made me root for their happy ending. The emotional stakes felt real, and the romance was beautifully developed, making this one of my favorite reads of the series so far.

With Wild Side (Rhys and Tabby’s story) on the horizon, I’m more excited than ever to continue my journey in Rose Hill. If you love small-town romance, single dads, and stories that balance humor with heart, Wild Eyes is an absolute must-read!
