Review: The Class Reunion - N.L Hinkens

Review: The Class Reunion - N.L Hinkens - November 2020

I saw this book advertised on a bookstagram post / social media post and it looked fascinating especially since he ticked both of my favourite boxes of tropes in books. Two of the ones on my list are reunion novels and the second are revenge stories where one by one someone suffers for their past actions. I grabbed this book from Kindle Unlimited as I hadn't read any of the authors before. This book starts with Heather receiving a phone call from an old classmate that not only has she not yet RSVP to their school reunion but also one of their friends and classmates Lindsey has died. It looks like an accident, but Heather isn't convinced and so she turns up to help investigate. What happens though when at their reunion, the classmates received a bunch of flowers with a note - You deserve to die. This freaks the class out but is someone just playing a prank on them? Heather returns to her normal life as a PI in Hollywood but finds herself being drawn back home when a series of attempts are made on her friends' lives from arson to murder. One by one, they not only receive messages but some are killed. Who is coming after their class and why now? I have to admit in one part I liked the twist as it did make sense but then the added side character- I was like really?? this part just felt like a vindicative female and someone who was just an evil person and wanted her way and blamed everyone else for the way her life turned out - no accountability there. If anyone deserves to die it's her out of all the characters.  Overall, The Class Reunion by NL Hinkens was an average mystery read and one where if you have KU - grab it from there.
