Review: Sable Peak - Devney Perry (The Edens #6)

Review: Sable Peak - Book #6 The Edens - Devney Perry - December 2023

This review is a bittersweet one as it comes to the end of the Eden series, besides the last two novellas I have to read.  I have enjoyed this series overall as I do love reading family sagas where each of the books are based on one of the members of the family and it's great too if the family is a "big one" as it means more books for the readers. In the Eden family, we have one more child left - their youngest son Matteo. At the end of the previous book, which was Lyla and Vance's story - Crimson River, we meet Vera Gallagher who was the daughter of Cormac - the guy who attacked Lyla and who Vance thought was dead and murdered along with her other sisters and mother.  In the past months, after Cormac disappeared and Vera stayed behind to try and get a normal life built for her,  she had been living with Lyla and Vance. Now though, she has moved into the loft of one of the other Edens. When Vera first spots Matteo, it is for her love at first sight. Not on Matteo's end as life is about to chuck him a few curveballs, including him ending up a single dad to Alaina. Vera is nothing but patient and gives her time, that is until she decides after a year and sees him flirting, she tells him straight - she isn't waiting for him anymore. The thing though Matteo loves her too and his daughter loves Ve-wa too. Can Matteo prove to Vera that he loves her and that she isn't this fragile person everyone has been treating her? Will Vera let him in and finally talk to him about the night her sisters died and what life has been like for her? I have to admit, my favorite part of this story was the Edens camping trip - it was just amazing and caring family vibes, that make you feel like - I want them as my family as my own family was very individualistic and after my mum died who I was close too, I drifted apart from them - not that I didn't and continue to try.  I now am excited to try Devney Perry's other series and get hooked on their worlds.
