Nocturnal Meetings of the Misplaced

Review: Nocturnal Meetings of the Misplaced - RJ Garcia - May 2018
In the mood for a weird read? Nocturnal Meetings of the Misplaced is the book for you as it starts off with Finn and his younger sister going to live with their mother's brother after her latest relapse in the small town where his mother grew up. He remembers hearing weird tales of his mother's life growing up and is about to discover that these stories have more truth than fiction to them.  Tommy meets Finn, Silence, and Annie who are sort of outcasts in the community but welcome Tommy with open arms. Tommy will soon find himself in the role of protector as Finn's dad the sheriff is abusive towards Finn and his mother and Silence's mother hasn't been herself since Silence was born. All Silence has of her mother's past is an old yellowed note and asks Tommy to help her find out the truth behind the note. This will lead Tommy and his sister Annie to their grandparent's house, where Tommy will discover the horrors of what happens in their basement and by doing so will solve a lot of the unsolved murder cases that have happened in the town.  Nocturnal Meetings of the Misplaced was an interesting smalltown read where secrets are what keeps people glued together and sometimes you need an outsider to come in and dig for those secrets to be out and the open in order to gain freedom.
