Review - The Nail Salon - Natalie Tambini
Review: The Nail Salon - Book #1 DCI Sue Fisher Series - Natalie Tambini - July 2023
Scrolling through my Kindle, I came across this book as the cover and title drew me in, and wow what a ride it was OMFG I did not see the ending reveal coming, that had me going WTF as I did with a few twists in this book. The book starts with Mel doing Soozie's nails, Mel is the local Nail Salon owner and becomes a friend and confidante to her clients. Mel though has a dark side that developed since childhood and ever since she was young, she has yearned for the perfect family unit so dressed as Beverley she was able to rent a home in the Crown Estate and as Sally she can help give homeless young women a place to stay and become her family, that is until they turn on her- then danger strikes and she must go through the Sally process once again. Mel has crafted everything to perfection and goes along life undetected, that is until her latest "rescued girl" happens to lie about her name and turns out to be the daughter of a wealthy couple and is all over the news and the police are searching every angle. What happens when the police narrow in on Mel? Can she escape and start a new life somewhere else? The other side story in The Nail Salon is one of a couple of sexual abuse cases, suicide, murder at a prison domestic violence, and a child trafficking ring. The Nail Salon is an edgy read that packs a punch with all its twists and turns and is worth the read as a few of the twists I did not see coming and was in for a few big surprises along the way.
