Review: Queen of North Shore - Sierra Kay

Review: Queen of North Shore - Book #3 Queens of the Castle Series - Sierra Kay - January 2022
I always enjoy a book that reminds me that women can be strong, successful, vulnerable, and still figuring things out all at the same time, and Queen of North Shore by Sierra Kay was exactly that kind of read.
Solange Porter thought she knew what her life looked like. She had her husband, Emeril, and a future they had planned together. But when Emeril dies, Solange is left not only grieving the man she loved but also dealing with one huge surprise: she is now the head of a tech company she never wanted to run.
Talk about being thrown in at the deep end!
What I really enjoyed about Solange was that she wasn't suddenly this perfect #girlboss who had all the answers. She was grieving, questioning herself, and trying to navigate a company where many of the staff weren't exactly thrilled about her being in charge either. I found her journey relatable because sometimes life throws us into situations we never asked for, and we simply have to find the strength to keep moving forward.
Then there is computer programmer Wale Adisa, who needs Solange's help and has a secret that could change everything she thought she knew about Emeril. And honestly, just when Solange is trying to pick up the pieces of her life, she discovers that there may have been things her husband kept hidden from her. Betrayal, secrets, danger, and the possibility that someone might be targeting both Solange and the company all add another layer of suspense to the story.
I enjoyed watching Solange grow into her role and begin to realise that perhaps she was more capable than she originally believed. Queen of North Shore is about more than running a company or uncovering secrets; it is also about finding your strength after loss, trusting yourself, and discovering who you are when life changes everything.
I love the Queens of the Castle series as they are all strong women who show that they can have it all from love, family, career, purpose, and a legacy. I love the message behind these books: that powerful women can make a difference not only in their own lives but also in their families, communities, and the wider world.
And the best part? Each book is a standalone with no cliffhangers, so you can jump in and enjoy each Queen's journey.
If you love stories featuring strong women, secrets, family legacies, romance, suspense, and women stepping into their power, the Queen of the Castle series is definitely worth adding to your reading list.
A warm, empowering read that proves sometimes the woman who never wanted the crown is exactly the Queen who deserves to wear it.
