Review: Queen of Wilmette - U.M Hiram

Review: Queen of Wilmette - Book #7 Queens of the Castle - U.M Hiram - January 2022
Queen of Wilmette by U.M. Hiram is a story about love, second chances, family, and finding the strength to build the life you deserve even when the past refuses to stay behind you.
Milan Alessia Jackson has already been through her fair share of heartbreak and hardship. After surviving a contentious relationship, she carries scars that have shaped the woman she has become. Thankfully, she had her grandaunt, who served as her protector, guardian angel, and source of strength until her final breath. Milan's journey is one of resilience, and I really enjoyed seeing a heroine who has been through so much but still refuses to let her past define her future.
Then there is Vikkas Germaine, Milan's childhood friend and the man who has always held a special place in her heart. Life separated the two of them, but fate and Vikkas's father Khali ( the OG King of the Castle) has other ideas. Their reunion leads them towards marriage and a new life together in Durabia, where they hope to finally build the future they have always wanted.
Of course, true love is never quite that simple!
As Milan and Vikkas settle into married life, secrets from Milan's past begin resurfacing. An unexpected trip to South Carolina, family members with old scores to settle, and challenges neither of them could have predicted all threaten the life they are trying to create together. The question soon becomes whether their love is strong enough to survive everything being thrown their way.
What I enjoyed most about Queen of Wilmette was its focus on Milan as a woman determined to have it all. She wants love, family, a career, and the opportunity to leave behind a meaningful legacy. As someone who enjoys reading about strong women who refuse to shrink themselves to fit into other people's expectations, I appreciated the #girlboss and #bossbabe energy running throughout the story.
This is the seventh book in the Queens of the Castle world, a series celebrating powerful women who are overcoming generational challenges while making a difference in their families, communities, and beyond. I also love that each of the Queen books can be read as a standalone, with no cliffhangers something I know many readers will appreciate!
Queen of Wilmette is a story filled with romance, family drama, secrets, second chances, and plenty of obstacles for its characters to overcome. If you enjoy books featuring strong, ambitious women alongside complicated relationships and family secrets, this is definitely one to add to your reading list.
A heartfelt read about love, resilience, legacy, and proving that a woman really can have it all.
