Upsy Daisy

Review: Upsy Daisy - Book #1 Higher Learning Series - Chelsie Edwards- May 2020

This book was great to read as those who have read any of the books set in Green Valley, will know that one of the staple restaurants is Daisy's Doughnut House owned by Daisy Payton and Simone's mother. Simone Payton was the one who ended up with Roscoe Winston. This book is Daisy's story and begins when her sister Dolly drops her off at Fisk University - a university for black students. When she arrives, she discovers that she can be whomever she wants and changes her surname to Paxton and starts a new life as Daisy Paxton - university freshman. At University, Daisy meets Trevor Boone - whom we later discover is also from Green Valley. Daisy and Trevor are both awkward and love each other but keeping secrets from one another isn't a good way to start a relationship. In the middle, this book was a tad slow and I have to admit as a teen Daisy was a tad annoying with her secrets. It's like she didn't think she was good enough for friends because she was born to wealth. What I did like was the fact that Daisy always got her dream of opening her doughnut house and when Daisy heads home for Christmas break and we meet a young Bethany whom we learn her father was the Mayor of Green Valley and seeing Daisy and Bethany together we got a little sneak peek into why they became good friends when they were older.
If you ever wanted to find out about the Payton Family of Green Valley, why not head back to the 1960's/1970's with Chelsie Edwards’s first book Upsy Daisy in the Higher Learning Series.
