Review: I Let Her In - Sophia Spiers - April 2025

As a longtime fan of thrillers, I was excited to recently discover Zooloos Book Tours, a tour company offering readers the chance to review new thriller titles. I signed up right away, and the first book I was sent was I Let Her In by Sophia Spiers — a gripping and layered psychological thriller that quickly pulled me in.

The story introduces us to Frankie, a confident entrepreneur who has built her own fitness brand blending Pilates and yoga. She has carefully rebranded her life, much like her best friend Lynda, who has reinvented herself as an artist. But the past, as we soon learn, has a way of catching up — and someone seems determined to drag Frankie and Lynda back down into it.

While Frankie maintains a tough exterior, Lynda is far more fragile, and tragically succumbs to a drug overdose. As the pressure mounts, Frankie begins receiving anonymous threats on her social media, calling her a fraud and threatening to expose her carefully buried secrets.

Running parallel to Frankie’s unravelling world is the storyline of Bea, a young woman who has recently lost her mother and uncovered Frankie’s name and address among her late mother’s things. Determined to track her down, Bea sets out on a collision course — but she’s unprepared for the shocking truths she’s about to discover about who Frankie really is.

I’ve always loved thrillers that play with themes of reinvention, buried identities, and long-lost family ties resurfacing in unexpected and dangerous ways. I Let Her In hits all these notes, delivering a tense, emotionally charged narrative that kept me hooked from start to finish. The dual perspectives of Frankie and Bea add layers of tension and mystery, and the pace steadily builds toward a satisfying reveal.

This was my first experience with Sophia Spiers’s writing, but it definitely won’t be my last. I’ll be adding her to my must-read author list and eagerly looking forward to her future books. If you’re a fan of UK crime fiction with psychological twists, I Let Her In is one you won’t want to miss.
