Cracked Sapphire (Broken Gems, #1)

Review: Cracked Sapphire - Book #1 Broken Gems Series - Jane Blythe - February 2020

As I enjoyed previously Jane Blythe's Count to Ten Series, I was looking forward to reading her Broken Gems series. In this series, we meet Detective Sapphire Hatcher. When Sapphire and her sisters were younger about ten years ago, they were snatched from their homes and sold to go into human trafficking by their parents. There were five of them Sapphire, Diamond, Ruby, Amethyst, and Emerald - however, only four of them were able to find each other and have been living together ever since and have hopes that one day their youngest sister Emerald will be reunited with them. Now ten years later, Sapphire is a detective who has dedicated herself to saving others so they don't have to go through what her sisters and herself went through. They have a serial killer on the loose who is killing females and dumping their bodies in public places. Sapphire and her partner Eli are getting close and it ends in a shoot-out that lands Eli into the hospital. The Chief of Police has brought Dr. Gideon Barlow in to help solve the case and Sapphire isn't keen as she hates with a passion shrinks. Gideon though has seemed to get under Sapphire's skin and we see some chemistry sizzling off the pages. What will happen though when the killer turns out to be someone closer to Sapphire than she ever realized? Will she find herself in a similar captive position that she was in ten years ago? Find out in the first book of the Broken Gems series by Jane Blythe, another great start to another awesome thriller series.
