Review: Follow Me Back - A. Meredith Walters

Review: Follow Me Back - Book #2 Twisted Love Series - A. Meredith Walters - June 2015

When I get into a bit of a reading rut which I felt in September, something that I love to do is go back through my Kindle and try and click on random reads - most of these have been sitting there for years and years. Sitting patiently, waiting to be clicked and read. Follow Me Back though it is Book #2 of a series, can be read as a stand-alone as it was very easy to understand. Follow Me Back is a great read if you want an angsty dark read but also a twisted love story of two people who shouldn't be together but they are despite the world telling them they are wrong, the heart wants what the heart wants - even if logic defies it. This book reminded me of what stories were like before the world became saturated with self-published and people hopping on trope trains. Back in 2012-2015, New Adult romance was the new genre created. It was filled with Angst, college-aged characters Emotions, and Edgier topics. It was books that pulled you in tugged at your heartstrings and played with your mind. It was a time when books were gritty and intense. Follow Me Back transported me back to that time and it made me sad as I missed the way I felt. In Follow Me Back - we have Aubrey who was studying Counselling when she broke ethics and boundaries and started dating one of the drug addicts in the group therapy course she was taking. Maxx not only took drugs but sold them and was deep in the world of a dark seedy club named Compulsion. Life took a turn when at the end of the first book Maxx almost died of an overdose. In Follow Me Back, Aubrey has been suspended and Maxx is in rehab. When he returns, he wants Aubrey - but she is trying to figure out her next steps, and a toxic relationship with Maxx isn't in the cards. Maxx knows she makes him a better person, can he get his life on track to win her back and show he is serious? With Aubrey's suspension, is this a time for her to finally reflect and make sure she is headed down the right track and make a decision to finally do something for herself and not for everyone else? Find out in this angsty NA romance by A. Meredith Walters "Follow Me Back", a book that won't disappoint.
