Review: Fic - Anne Jamison

Review: Fic - Anne Jamison - November 2013

One of my favourite book publishing companies is SmartPop . They explore TV Shows, Book Phenomenons etc and give them a philosophical looksie at the book, Tv Show or Movie. One of the recent ones I read was Fic . This was a collection of essays exploring the art of Fan-Fiction starting way back when with fan-fiction tales of Spock and Star-Trek and I did learn Spock's blood type was in fact T-Negative. Then it moved on to Sherlock Holmes which of course is one of the largest fan-fiction based enterprise with hundreds of stories spun from Sherlock and of course Movies and TV Shows. To Modern day Fan-Fiction which of course included the number #1 book that has set off the Fan-Fiction bells and started a trend in publishers and authors releasing Erotic fiction - you know the book I am talking about - It's Fifty Shades of Grey. One of the world's most talked about books. This was originally written as a fan-fiction of Stephenie Meyer's book series "Twilight" and then E.L James took it a further level by adding BDSM and making the content R18 and wham, bam she has a book outselling JK Rowling and making it's ways to all the corners of the world. I found this book to be an interesting and in-depth read as currently I have discovered the Kindle Worlds Stories, which are all fan-fiction based on favourite books and TV Series like Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries and Veronica Mars.
If you are looking for a non-fiction to get those brain muscles pumping and learning something, then check out Fic by Anne Jamison.
To finish off here is a quote that was in the book about Fan-Fiction and kudos goes out to all those who can guess which book it's using.
"Fan Fiction is the madwoman in the mainstream cultures attic but the attic won't be able to contain it forever".
