Review: The Affiliate - Book #1 The Ascension Series - K.A Linde - September 2015

Firstly, I was attracted to the book due to the cover as it was amazing. If you love fantasy novels and epic adventures then The Affiliate by K.A Linde is for you. In a way this book reminded me of The Selection series by Kiera Cass as the main character Cyrene is chosen to be a representive on the Queen's council which is one of the most prestigious positions that anyone in her city could dream of . As the story goes along though, things start to get a bit on the rough side as Cyrene discovers that all isn't as it seems and that life this side of the fence isn't all rainbows and sunshine and she is pulled into a world of danger, adventure and if she's not careful then treachery will evolve. Like most epic fantasy novels, the first books are always a little bit slow to start off with as the first book tends to lay the groundwork for the series and introduce us to the different key players and storylines that will evolve as the story progresses through the chapters. In The Affiliate we can see that something will happen between the King Edric and Cyrene as they become close in the book and she finds him one of the few she can trust, but even getting close to the King has her walking on a fine line.  Cyrene must decide as the first book comes to a close whether love is worth it and whether it is worth the price of being free otherwise she may be trapped into a nasty cycle she can't escape from for the rest of her existence. If you love epic fantasy tales and books from authors like Trudi Canavan, Cinda Williams Chima and Sarah Maas, then The Ascension Series by K.A Linde is the books for you.

Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. Review: Dr. Strange Beard - Book #5 Winston Brothers Series - Penny Reid - July 2018 If there is a family that I love to read about it has been the Winston Brothers. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
