Review: Stolen Soulmate - Mary Catherine Gebhard
Review: Stolen Soulmate - Book #2 Crowne Point Series - Mary Catherine Gebhard - February 2020
Story Hale loved her job and excelled at being invisible,
that was until one day by mistake she is pulled into a world that she never
wanted to be part of. A world she had tried so hard to stay away from. A world
where she knew she would never be accepted as she wasn't of their upper-class
status. Story Hale was a servant girl, a maid and Grayson Crowne was the
Prince. When I started reading this book, I have to admit I was a little
confused as I had a feeling it was set in modern times but a few parts of the
book read like a historical fiction and I remember telling my friend Rach, that
I didn't know what time period the book was set in as it felt too ambiguous.
Turns out it was modern times but in the world of extreme wealth and control.
The rule is that a servant should never look the Crownes in the eyes, they
should know their place in this world. The book starts with Story on her way to
Abigail's room, when she is pulled into a dark room and kissed. It is later
discovered she was kissed by Grayson and the person who he thought he was
kissing was his girlfriend Charlotte Du Lac - another wealthy family.
Stuck between losing her job and being able to never see her uncle, Story
accepts a deal with Grayson and she becomes his "pet" of sorts. The
thing though is that we see the chemistry and a forbidden romance of sorts
begin and a strong love/hate relationship as the pair are torn between their
hearts and their heads and what they should be doing in terms of
responsibilities. Being the male of the family, Grayson is set to marry
Charlotte as part of a merger and to boost their connections and wealth but he
finds his heart with Story despite how much he tries to deny it. Story
has morals and will not become a mistress and second-best - a secret to hideaway.
Will Grayson go through his marriage to Charlotte or will he say F-
responsibilities and follow his heart? Stolen Soulmate does tug at your
heartstrings as you sympathize and connect with Story Hale. Stolen Soulmate
also ends on a cliffhanger and I am now looking forward to reading Book #3 and
going back and reading Book #1 Heartless Hero.
