Review: When You See Me - Lisa Gardner

When You See Me (Detective D.D. Warren, #11; Gardner Universe, #20)

Review: When You See Me - Book #11 D.D Warren Series - Lisa Gardner - January 2020

The squad is back and armed with two newbies Keith - an IT guy and Flora Dane - a victim who escaped and killed her kidnapper. Flora Dane was the girl who got away and killed her kidnapper Jacob Ness. Ness was an abductor who killed a lot of women and Flora managed to put an end to him. Now she has been contacted by FBI Special agent Kimberly Quincy and DD Warren as they have been summoned to a town called Niche. A small town where a couple were hiking and stumbled upon a body which has been buried in the woods for almost fifteen years and the victim it seems could be connected to Jacob Ness and some are thinking it was one of his first victims. Flora has been dragged along to see if she can remember anything from her time that may help them solve the unsolved murder cold case. While they are in town, several more bodies are unearthed and it leads them to the Counsels who own the motel and the husband is the Mayor. There the Counsels have a mute niece which is the girl whose story we read throughout the book in italics - a past story of her history and how she ended up where she is today. As more bodies continue to pile up and strange things happen, it seems that Kimberly and DD Warren have stumbled upon a big murder ring and as recent deaths start to occur with the people they suspect - is the UNSUB cleaning house so that he can get away and start fresh somewhere else? Find out in When You See Me by Lisa Gardner - a fast-paced murder mystery. Yet the downside for me was that I found this book very busy with numerous characters and storylines.
