Daisy Jones & The Six

Review: Daisy Jones and the Six - Taylor Jenkins Reid - March 2019

This particular book has been sitting on my "want to read" list for a while now as it sounded like a fun read and I have also read a few of this particular's authors books and enjoyed them. The other reason, I needed to get on and read it was because it is being made into a TV series which I am looking forward to watching, more so now that I have finished the book. Do you know how some books can just take longer than others to read, often due to the format of the book? For me, that was Daisy Jones and the Six. This book was written in a full interview format as the "author" is writing a biography about the band and the lead-up to their break-up which happened suddenly. One minute the band was at the top of their game and the next just like that everyone started to crumble one by one until Daisy Jones and the Six didn't exist anymore. Starting from the beginning were two different stories - Daisy Jones's and Billy and Graeme Dunne's. From Daisy's story, we read as she gets hooked on music, and drugs and eventually joins The Six and headlining tours to Billy and Graeme Dunne - two brothers who grew a band of themselves to Six people and eventually seven when Daisy Jones joined. The years were the 1960s -1980s and music was a different scene back then and the world was different too. I enjoyed this book and could imagine it would have been talking about the behind-the-scenes of any band at that time. The other thing I did like and smiled about was the little easter egg of bringing in "Mick Rivas" as he is the father of the cast in Malibu Rising.  I am now looking forward to watching the TV Show and if you loved movies like Rock of Ages and Almost Famous - then you have Daisy Jones and The Six.
