Review: Breathless - Amy McCulloch - May 2022

Cecily Wong has been invited on the expedition of a lifetime, she is about to climb one of the most popular mountains with famous mountaineer Charles McVeigh as he is setting out to climb his latest mountain and break a world record. Charles has been climbing for years and has made a name for himself as one of the world's best mountaineers and has handpicked a crew to help him celebrate this moment in history. However, life has other plans as just about the trip is about to begin, Cecily hears from one of the other campers that his best friend Pierre died on Charles's latest mission and Alain is sure it wasn't a freak accident, he is convinced it was murder and that somehow Charles is involved. What happens though that he ends up dead and then as the team gets higher and higher up the mountain, they are all dropping like flies and end up in accidents that could be viewed as "freak mistakes". What if there is a murderer in the mountains and killing them one by one? Cecily is one of the fewer experience mountaineers on the teams, but can she manage to survive the trip due to her journalistic instincts or will she fall prey to the killer? Find out in this revenge thriller "Breathless' by Amy McCulloch. Something fun about this novel too, was that the author herself has been mountain climbing, so felt like she had written some of her own experiences and knowledge into the story.
