Review: Lock Every Door - Riley Sager

Review: Lock Every Door - Riley Sager - July 2019

After reading a few of Riley Sager's books and enjoying them, I decided to go back and read his earlier books. So far, I have ticked four off my list. Lock Every Door had a Stephen King feel to it. This book starts with Jules who is an orphan and all alone. Her sister Jane disappeared years ago and both her parents killed themselves. Her life has currently been on a downward spiral as on the same day she lost her job and was made redundant, she also discovered her boyfriend Andrew was cheating on her.  When Jules sees a classified Ad for an apartment sitter in the exclusive apartment building The Bartholomew, she believes her luck is finally looking up as for the three months, she is also offered $12,000. It's an offer she can't resist. When she moves in though, she is given a strange list of rules to follow and soon meets the other apartment sitters. All is good for a couple of days but then strange things start to happen and Jules's new friend Ingrid vanishes without a trace. This leads Jules to start exploring and she discovers that all of the previous apartment sitters had a few things in common- they all had no family, no ties and they are all now missing persons. As Jules does her research, she will learn all about a cult called The Golden Chalice and the dark history of the Bartholomew and if she's not careful, she might end up just like the other apartment sitters - missing and nowhere to be found. I am now looking forward to reading my next Riley Sager book which is The Last Time I Lied.
