Review : Shade - Jeri Smith-Ready - August 2010

This storyline is one that we have read many different times in many different books , but Jeri-Smith Ready has put a new spin on it which made this read stand out and different , which I enjoyed.
In this story , 16 nearly 17 years ago something called "The Shift" happened and everyone born after the Shift ended up with magical powers , the majority of them being able to see and hear ghosts. For 16 yr old Aura , she can see and hear ghosts ... her aunt Gina owns a law firm and Aura is like a ghost-translator which I loved about this book is that the Ghosts can sue and have real courtroom trials which we witness a few in this book , especially one that is significant to the story.
When Aura's boyfriend and first love Logan dies after an accident , she sees the ghost sightings as an opportunity to still share the love with Logan. When Aura starts to come to terms that it might not be all that bad having a ghost as a boyfriend, in comes Zachary - an exchange student from Scotland. Now Aura is stuck between two guys - the ghost and the living ?,
As the time nears Aura must choose between loving the living Zachary or embracing the dead Logan . Which way will Aura go , the way the book finishes I was disappointed but overall the story is one that all fans of the Supernatural/Paranormal YA/Teen Fic Genre and fans of Jeri Smith-Ready's will enjoy.
