Review: The Death of Mrs Westaway - Ruth Ware
Review: The Death of Mrs. Westaway - Ruth Ware - May 2018
Harriet aka Hal is
busy working as a fortune teller and tarot card reader and is strapped for cash
as she has loan sharks hunting her down. She had to take a small loan out as
her mum died leaving her with debt she couldn't at the time pay. She has repaid them numerous times, but they
still want more. One day, she returns home to find a letter from a lawyer
stating that her grandmother has passed away and she is required to come for
the will reading. The thing is it has her name on it, but as far as she is aware - this is not her grandmother, but the timing is right for Harriet to get away
for a few days. Harriet contacts the lawyer and is
soon swept into the life of the Westaway Estate and into the Westaway
family. Things, however, are dark and gloomy, and
it seems the family is hiding a few dark secrets up their sleeve. Soon Hal will
learn the truth of who she is and why her mother kept the fact of who she was and who her father was from
Hal. As Hal is about to learn that sometimes knowing the truth can really put
you in harm's way and sometimes it is
better pretending another truth than the reality to protect the ones you love. The Death of Mrs. Westaway had
lots of good twists but was very
slow-paced than I am normally used to, but then again it is the British way, to have slow-paced mystery novels.
