Review: On a Quiet Street - Seraphina Nova Glass - May 2022

As readers will know from my reviews, 2022 for me is the Year of the Thriller reads as I have been finding it difficult with romances as everything just feels so blah and the same. I struggle with them to keep my attention, but I know often that a thriller will keep me entertained. On a Quiet Street by Seraphina Nova Glass, a young man named Caleb lies dying on the ground after being involved in a hit and run. It wasn't the hit and run that killed him though, it was a bullet. Who wanted Caleb dead and why didn't anyone call for help? What happened that night that on a normally quiet street in a good neighborhood, no one saw a man dying? The book then jumps to Paige who was Caleb's mother. She spends her time now trying to find out who killed her son by spying on her neighbors as if somebody knows something. She pulled away from everyone including her husband, Grant. Paige's only friend is Cora and Cora has her dramas happening as she is convinced her husband Finn is cheating on her and she is also trying to help the neighbor Georgia across the road come out of her shell. Georgia has a secret though, she is trapped physically after a decision she made a few years ago and wishes she could escape, but she fears her husband will kill her and their daughter Avery. Throughout the book Paige, Cora and Georgia will form a bond and in doing so - Paige will find out the dark truth about what happened to her son and gain new family members, and Cora will finally be free and wealthy to start a new happy life and Georgia/Avery can finally be free of the restraints that kept her trapped in the US as her truth comes to light.  With nothing and everything to lose, this story is about peeling back the layers until all is revealed and also makes you question - How well do you really know your neighbors?

Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. Review: Dr. Strange Beard - Book #5 Winston Brothers Series - Penny Reid - July 2018 If there is a family that I love to read about it has been the Winston Brothers. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
