Review: Do Not Disturb - Freida McFadden
Review: Do Not Disturb - Freida McFadden - September 2021
One of the authors that I have found that I have always enjoyed their thrillers is Freida McFadden, she is one of those authors that everyone would have heard of as in the past couple of years she popped up in the world and skyrocketed to rival James Patterson's books. In Do Not Disturb, this book reminded me a bit of Psycho with the whole Bates Motel theme. The book starts with Quinn killing her husband as it was either her or him and she knew she had to fight back as she wasn't planning to be the one leaving in a body bag. Turned out her husband was cheating on her, she just didn't know who, and now Quinn is on the run and stopped at a small motel in the middle of nowhere called Baxter's Motel. The motel is run by a husband-and-wife couple named Nick and Rosalie. Two years ago, a girl was murdered in Room 201 and Nick's wife became bedridden and spends her time watching the hotel rooms with her binoculars. She also believes that Nick killed that girl and that Quinn is in trouble, but turns out Quinn is in trouble not from who we all think it is. I have to say this book surprised me with the twist at the ending as I didn't see it coming but looking back it did make sense. It is the endings and the big reveals that make Freida McFadden's books so good as they always throw a giant spanner into the works and they will make you go back and think about what you read as all the pieces finally fall into place and you go as the reader - "of course, they were the killer". If you are a fan of psychological thrillers and have yet to explore Freida McFadden's other titles besides her popular "Housemaid Series", then what are you waiting for in my opinion, her other titles are much more twisted and suspenseful.
