Review: The Allure of Julian Lefray - Book #1 Allure Series - RS Grey - June 2015

As most of my readers will know, I am notorious for reading series often out of order. I never mean to, it just happens. This is one of those times and also, in this case, I have read RS Grey's later books before her debut novel The Allure of Julian Lefray. Going into this book, I already had a strong idea of how it would end as Book #2 in this series was a favorite of mine. In Book #1 we meet Jo Keller who is a fashion blogger and has a site called What Jo Wore. She was made for the big city and has moved to New York from a small unknown town in Texas. In New York, she hopes to make her splash in the Fashion World. Her first step is to get a job as fashion designer Lorna Lefray's assistant. The book starts with Jo at the Met Gala and meeting hotshot Julian Lefray who happens to be Lorna's older brother. For Julian, he is attracted to her straight away but for Josephine, she can't afford for her mind to wander and has her career on her mind only and won't ruin it by sleeping with her new boss's brother.  Fast forward and Jo get the job, only thing is she will be working with Julian, not Lorna as his sister has taken some time out in rehab. This book - romance wise was a very slow burn as neither of them would step up to the plate and prove how they felt about one another until Julian makes a big gesture. The other thing that did frustrate me a bit about this book was that it was honestly like Jo was only working with him as a stepping stone and to bide her time for something bigger and the first chance she got, she would ditch him. I get wanting to be something great and having to pay the bills, but seriously - ever heard of staff loyalty? Especially since Lorna's business was starting fresh due to staff being enablers to her drug addict and she is ready to start again and now you are going to leave her when she's ready for her debut season? Overall, though I did enjoy this book as the blogging part hit close to home as, like Jo, every blogger has big dreams of their blog getting them recognized and opening the doors to something better paid and opportunistic.
