Review: The Hawthorne Legacy - Jennifer Lynn Barnes

The Hawthorne Legacy (The Inheritance Games, #2)

Review: The Hawthorne Legacy - Book #2 The Inheritance Games - Jennifer Lynn Barnes - September 2021

One of my favorite YA authors for her teen detective and unraveling scandals is Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This book is one I had been waiting to read for ages ever since that cliffhanger ending of the first book "The Inheritance Games" and Book #2 was certainly a rollercoaster of a ride as we got not only the answers, we wanted but a whole lot more information as secrets were unraveled and hidden truths came to the surface and we finally learned the truth about Avery, her mum, and Toby Hawthorne. What I loved about this book is that despite everything that came to the light, not once did the Hawthorne’s try and take away their grandfather's wishes for Avery and the boys protected her like they were her "real family" as she learned the crazy ins and outs of the Hawthorne family and their deepest darkest secrets. Like the first book, we have another novel of riddles, ciphers and treasure hunts as the Hawthorne’s loved a good puzzle and life was just a series of random clues that by themselves didn't mean much but put together unraveled lives.  If you are familiar with Jennifer Lynn Barnes books which of course if you are looking at reading this book you would be as you have to read her stories in order otherwise, they feel like one big giant messy story. The Hawthorne Legacy is a busy but thrilling YA story and a great conclusion to the duet that is The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
PS - this cover is to die for and I have a total cover crush on it.
