Review: Liar's Beach - Katie Cotugno - May 2023

This book had been on my Amazon wishlist and I belong to an Instagram group where you buy the person's birthday it is a book. This was my present from @what_sarahs_read. I had been looking forward to this YA Thriller as it was said to be a modern take on Agatha Christie's novel The Mysterious Affair at Styles which I have now to read on my Kindle as it was only 39c on Amazon Ebook- what a score. Liar's Beach is told from the male perspective of Michael Linden which was also a new take for me as I tend to read books that have the female as the lead character unless, of course, it's the Alex Cross series. Linden is on scholarship at his school and is friends with Jay. Jay invites him to his house in a setting like Martha's Vineyard for summer vacation. Looking forward to the break, Linden agrees as he even has the chance and opportunity to hook up with Jay's sister Eliza. All goes well, he even runs into an old childhood friend Holiday. Linden's mother is her family's housekeeper. That is until a mutual frenemy of Jay's family turns up lying in the pool and ends up in a medical coma. Who tried to kill him and now with everyone being a suspect even Linden, it gets him thinking especially with Holiday who is a modern female Hercule Poirot. Can Linden and Holiday discover the killer or will it end in broken relationships and friendships as the fingers are pointed at everyone?
Find out in this YA thriller Liar's Beach by Katie Cotugno - the perfect introductory read for those wanting to venture into the world of Agatha Christie.
