Review: Have You Seen My Sister? By Kirsty McKay

Review: Have You Seen My Sister? - Kirsty McKay - September 2023

This cover was amazing and drew my attention to reading it on the Libby App. The book starts with Esme and Gaia Gill hanging out at a party as the family is spending their last night in the snow before Gaia goes off to college and the rest of her family heads back to Boston. That night though only one of the sisters comes home, the other ends up as a missing person. Unfortunately for Esme, she can't quite remember what time she got home or when she last saw her sister as she suffers from dyscalculia, this part I resonated with as had struggled with numbers, spatial awareness, and coordination. It wasn't until recently that I learned about this disorder and realized that I have a form of it and it all made sense. As the family tries to retrace Gaia's steps the night before, they notice that Craig is also missing and friends/family end up putting the pieces together. But what happens when they find Craig left for dead and Gaia still missing? Where is Gaia and what has happened to her? Will Esme and her family find her or is she missing forever? I have to say the ending of this book was a little weak, but it was still an enjoyable YA thriller, and fans of Natalie D. Richards, Holly Jackson, and Natasha Preston will enjoy Kirsty McKay's books.
