Review: The Ripple Effect - Cally Jackson

Review: The Ripple Effect - Book #1 Ripple Effect - Cally Jackson - September 2023

I had seen this one earlier on Instagram and it sounded really good and up my alley, as I do enjoy the odd time-traveling read. The Ripple Effect was set in Australia too, just across the ditch from me in New Zealand and some of the places I had heard of, so I felt a bit of a stronger connection to the story. In this book, Caitlyn has just turned 21 years old, and unfortunately, most of the women in her family on her father's side when they turn 21 end up for a short period as time travelers. Caitlyn now has found herself traveling back to 1983, forty years before she was born. She doesn't know what's happening and the only person she can talk to is her grandmother who is now suffering from dementia. Her grandmother remembers some of her trips and tells Cailtlyn some rules as she will find even the minor changes back then will cause effects in her today's life including new friends, old friends disappearing, etc. In 1983, Caitlyn meets her next-door neighbor Toby and she falls for him and vice versa, but what happens when she starts to develop feelings for him and she knows she can't stay? In 2023, Caitlyn decides to look up and see what happened to Toby only to learn he died. Can Caitlyn go back and save him? What will happen though in her "real world" if she saves Toby? Will the Ripple Effect be too major? Just like her grandmother and her own experience with her traveling? Find out in this amazing fast-paced time travel romance and I am now excited to read Book #2 Aftermath.
