After reading the 4th Book or if you count the prequel - the 5th Book , I thought that since I have read books 1-4 that I would hunt out my old reviews of the others in the series and do a "Soul Screamers Special Edition"

Author Rachel Vincent has introduced us mortals to a new side of the Irish Mythology and those creatures known as Bean Sidhes and Reapers and Soul Screamers- Soul screamers are a bit like Banshees. They Cry for the soul when somebody dies , kind of like a pre-death premonition. Scream as the soul dies and passes through to the other side, So today's choice of review is going to be Book One : My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent in the series "Soul Screamers".

Kaylee Canvanaugh has a gift or in her words a curse, she is what is known as a Soul screamer and she has also found out that she is living on borrowed time. She has the gift that she doesn't see people when they die but if she senses someone around her is going to die - she can normally tell this as the person has like a big black shadow encasing their souls. She feels compelled to scream and not just a girly scream but a full on bloody murder scream which everyone for miles can here. All she wants to do though is live a normal teenage life at high school , have friends , party and date - So when the hottest dude at school Nash  Hudson shows an interest in her , she justs wants to enjoy life. But Nash has a dark secret of his own and knows more about Kaylee and her gift than she does. Together , the two must work together and help save their classmates as they start to drop like flies. Also in this book we have visits from Kaylee's estranged father who she hasn't seen in 16 years and some good and bad grim reapers.

When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies. This is because she is what is known as a female Bean Sidhe ( this is an Irish version of the supernatural) and when she screams it comes out more like a wail , this is called the Soul Song . However when the newest teen pop sensations come to town and Nash (her bf who also happens to be a male bean sidhe) older brother Tod ( who nows works as a grim reaper , when he died two years ago at the age of 17) knows one of the singers and scores Nash and Kaylee free tickets to the concert, all is turning out to be a normal day until on stage while performing Eden collapses and dies , but Kaylee didn't scream which can only mean one thing , Eden was soulless , when the trio find out that Tod's friend Addy is next , they must do everything they can to stop it from consorting with thousand year old grim reapers and hellions of the Netherworld. However , as they start to dig to the bottom of this , they find themselves in a deeper mess as they uncover the dark truth of Deker Media Corporation who has been selling souls since the beginning of time. Can kaylee , Nash and Tod save Addy and what will happen when Reagan (Addy's little sister) signs her soul contract. Can they save all the souls or will they have to make a heart-wrenching decision of who they can save and who they cant so that nobody gets harmed. As always Rachel has outdone herself ,in this wonderful book. I cannot wait for book three to be released called My Soul to Keep.

My Soul To Keep - Book #3 Soul Screamers Series - Rachel Vincent- June 2010

The book starts off with Kaylee, and her boyfriend, Nash, going to a party. But while there, they run into something shocking. A fellow classmate has somehow gotten ahold of Demon's Breath, the deadly substance from the Netherworld. You can pretty much guess how things will go from there. Kaylee is determined to find out how Demon's Breath is ending up in the hands of students, and who could possibly be behind the whole thing. There is alot of action in this book, and I found myself on the edge of my seat, especially during the second half of the book. The whole gang returns in this novel; Nash, Tod, Kaylee's dad, Harmony, even Addy. How many death's will it take to stop the Demon's Breath ?
My Soul to Keep  is probably the most consuming and dramatic out of all four books., not to mention full of its surprising moments. Like I said, Kaylee's whole world has changed this time, and I'm curious to see how things will turn out. Next up, My Soul to Steal, coming December 2010.
