Review: Alone and Alive - Janet Boyanton

Have you ever lost a loved one and not sure how to cope or what to do if you ever lost somebody you were close to ?
Review: Alone and Alive - Janet Boynaton- May 2011
Have you ever had somebody close to you pass away or have you worried about what might happen when somebody close to you dies ? All of a sudden , your whole life can change and you are the one left alone and alive , the one left here on earth to pick up things and to try and resume your life back to normal. It's a scary thought and a hard thing to comprehend and we all say, thank god that hasn't happened to me but as a work friend's son died the other day in an accident at 20years old , it makes you think OMG that could have been any of us , one day we are here and the next not. Are we prepared for death, most of the time we can be if someone is very ill etc but more often than not - it can hit us like a wave that is unexpected.
Janet's book "Alone and Alive is a pratical guide to dealing with the death of a loved one and covers issues like Finances, Children's grief, probate, Living arrangements, legal documents and then the big one - Dating and eventually remarriage, if some get to that point in life.
Alone and Alive covers Janet's personal experience which made the book quite an emotional rollercoaster as on a camping trip for her son's 10th birthday - her husband was found dead .
The book is split into sections that are easy to read and follow and is straight to the point as realistically when somebody passes , the last thing on your mind is everything else but the person who has died, we all go into a cloud of grief. I think what really scares me , is that they say funerals bring out the worst and best in a person as everyone is on their best behaviour but for me , I don't have a good memory of funerals as the last one I went to in October was the last straw in keeping my parents marriage together and my whole life was turned upside down. So to learn from experience, funerals are a time when families need to stick together not drift apart.
