Living Dead Girl

Review: Living Dead Girl - Kelly Gunderman - November 2020

I had been waiting to read this book for a while now as the original tour date was pushed back for personal reasons and then it finally happened as we all received the eBook to read. I wasn't 100% sure what the book was about but the blurb had sounded good at the time when I decided to sign up for the tour. Months later though I had forgotten what the book was and at the beginning, we are introduced to two female characters best friends Dana and Kaitlyn. The girls go to a party and get drunk, Kaitlyn of course makes a stupid mistake and accidentally kisses Dana who she has had a crush on. Dana runs off and Kaitlyn gets drunker, this leads to her in a room with Kevin, Josh, and Caleb and one thing leads to another and Kaitlyn ends up dead and tossed into the empty pool like a buried ragdoll. The next day, Kaitlyn wakes up and soon realizes that she is dead and a ghost. The book then took a dark horror turn when Kaitlyn decides to give the boys a taste of their own medicine with her revenge plans for murdering her and leaving her to decompose. I have to admit, I wasn't ready for the darkness of this book as it turns very quickly. Living Dead Girl by Kelly Gunderman reminded me of a possible Stephen King story with its mix of mystery and horror/darkness. If you love YA Horror, then Living Dead Girl is the read for you.
