Review: Sweet Valley High - Academic All-Star? - Graphic Novel

Review: Sweet Valley High - Book #1- Academic All-Star ? - Various Authors - July 2019

Growing up the Sweet Valley High series was one of my favorite series for Paula aged 10-13 years old. The series was amazing, as I enjoyed the TV Series, the books and I even had the board game. Elizabeth Wakefield was also one of my literary icons. The twin was perfect as she had the grades, volunteered, and was a newspaper reporter for the school paper. I so wanted to be her. In Academic All-Star, these three authors have turned the Sweet Valley High series into a graphic novel. This was fun reading as it brought me great flashbacks and memories. In this graphic novel, we have Jessica who has fallen head over heels with her Summer School English tutor who is also married, she starts a faux-romance on Instagram and tells her friends big tales of their adventures. She is even dressing like Elizabeth to act smarter than her party girl act. This, however, gets Elizabeth in trouble as Todd is convinced that despite her busy schedule volunteering which looks good on her college applications, she is cheating on him and is acting like a jealous boyfriend which hurts Elizabeth. How can she be with a guy who doesn't trust her?

If you loved the Sweet Valley High series as a tween/teen, then this is great for memory's sake but if you are a tween/teen now, then this is an awesome introduction to the series making a comeback.
