Heathens (Heathens, #1)

Review: Heathens - Book #1 Heathens Series - Amanda Richardson - September 2017

Needing a dark romance to sink your teeth into? Lately, I have been stuck in a bit of a reading rut. I am finding it hard to get into books and find time to sit and read a book and get hooked on the story. I figured reading a dark romance would hook me. This book started with Evelyn whom we can see is a sex worker. Then the book jumps to Lilith aka Lily and we discover that years ago she and Evelyn (her best friend) were traveling and that they were kidnapped and trafficked. Lilith managed to escape but had to leave her friend Evelyn behind but to this day has not stopped searching for her. Evelyn is also a fighter and dreams of the day she can finally escape; she just has to find the right timing. Enter Salem Tempest - he had lost his path a few years ago and was headed on a downward spiral but the Catholic Church saved him and he decided to enrol in a seminary school and train to become a priest. That was until he meets Lilith and he is captivated by her and wants to know her as he is drawn to her. The story will travel down their paths of Salem being tempted and having to face the hard choices of doing what he believes in and reconsidering whether priesthood is his journey? Can Lilith find her friend before it's too late and which path will Salem choose to go down when he is faced with the hardest choice of his life? Heathens was a slow book to start off but as the story got deeper and twisted, I hoped Lilith would find Evelyn and be reunited before it's too late and she is lost forever in a world of trafficked girls.  I am now looking forward to reading Book #2 which will be Evelyn's story.
