Mickey on the Move: Farming

Review: Mickey on the Move - Farming - Michelle Wagner - July 2022

Sometimes we just feel in the mood for a children's book, these are great if you are having a bad day, during a reading slump, and just need something light and feel-good to kick you out of it - even if it's only momentarily. Mickey on the Move is a book about a mother and son who live on their farm and Mickey loves helping his mother feed the chickens, do the gardening, etc. However, Mickey is deaf and wears the beginning cochlear implants and so he can't get them wet, which means he can only help his mum in the warm weather. That is until he gets the chance to try some new cochlear implants that have just been created called Aqua implants that are waterproof, water resistant, and mean he can be outside on the farm even in the wet weather and jump in puddles, go swimming and be just like a regular kid and still be able to hear everything around him and be safe. This was a cute read and a great resource to show children that even though someone is deaf, they aren't that different if you have a child who is deaf- then this is a great book to show that they aren't alone in the world. Mickey on the Move is part of a series written by Michelle Wagner - based on the adventures she has with her son Mickey IRL.  Mickey on the Move: Farming is the perfect read for children aged 6-9 years old.
