Blackout

Review: Blackout - K. Monroe - February 2022

Allie has woken up after being in a coma, but the thing is she doesn't remember anything. She ended up with amnesia after being told she was in a single car accident and crashed into a tree. She was found with alcohol and it looks like a careless drunken accident, however, there was no alcohol in her system. The police know things aren't adding up, but with Allie not remembering and no one coming forward, things are at a standstill. Like most books with the amnesia trope, our main character when she gets back to her real life- discovers that she wasn't part of a nice crowd and hates the way she treated others. What happens though, when she realizes that her so-called friends are keeping dark secrets and that this may be a case of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer as the truth about what happened to Allie starts to unravel as she experiences flashbacks of that fateful night.  Blackout is a good YA thriller read and will keep readers on their toes.
