Review: She Can Run - Melinda Leigh
Review: She Can Run - Book #1 She Can Series - Melinda Leigh - November 2011
This particular author I enjoyed and if you love authors like Kendra Elliott and Kate Watterson and Melinda Woodhall, then you will enjoy her crime reads. On the other hand, this particular series has been a hit/miss for me as I find I either enjoy them or they have been DNFs. She Can Run was up my alley with the main character leaving her husband in the middle of the night with her children after he tried to kill her in a fit of rage. Beth now has accepted a job as a caretaker, but when she turns up and learns that her new prospective employer is dead and his nephew Jake has taken over the property. Feeling sorry and knowing Beth is hiding from something and the fact that his Uncle Danny had good instincts, he hires her and she starts to care for the horses. Over time Jake and Beth will start to have feelings, but with Beth always having to be one step ahead and stay alert, she can't let herself have any distractions. What happens though when she lets down her wall and her past comes back? Can Beth save herself or is her life over, what will happen to her children Ben and Katie? Meanwhile, in the small town - several women have gone missing and turned up dead - have they got a serial killer in town, and what happens when the serial killer has Beth in his target line as well? Who can Beth trust when everyone wants a piece of her? Find out in this slower-paced mystery read "She Can Run" by Melinda Leigh. Book #1 and a standalone in the She Can series.
