Review: Drake - Sara Schoen

Review: Drake - Book #0.5 The Outsiders Series, Book #37 Happy Endings Resort Series - Sara Schoen - February 2018

Readers will remember Drake from the Outsiders series whose main characters were two sisters Rose aka Red and Violet who ended up in the foster system after their parents disappeared without a trace. This book starts in the Happy Endings Resort, where Drake has lived most of his life with his parents. That was until his dad decided he had, had enough and left Drake with his mum and they now live in a trailer in the trailer park. We learn that Drake's life isn't so easy as he is a target for all his mum's numerous boyfriends who like to act tough, pick on someone smaller and exert their dominance. The sad thing too is that Drake gives his mum the choice and every time she picks the boyfriend and abuses her son. One summer, Liv - a girl he has a love/hate relationship with decides to take things into her own and ends up manipulating Drake and getting him drunk to reveal the truth. What will happen though to Drake when she thinks she is doing the right thing? Now Drake, with nowhere to go ends up in the foster care system and becomes an "Outsider". This book finishes with the crossover of Rose aka Red and Violet turning up at the foster group home.  This was a quick read and gave readers a background on Drake's life and how he ended up where he is and how he got all the scars etc.
